Eventi Gargano

The Sanctuary of Monte Sant’Angelo

by Dave on October 9, 2014

A few months ago, I was invited by the kind folks at Gargano OK, a consortium of local businesses, to tour their slice of southeastern Italy.

Gargano, part of the Puglia region, is known as the “spur of the boot” on the account of its location just above the “heel of the boot” on Italy’s Adriatic coast.

For years, its been known amongst Italians as a budget-friendly beach destination, but as I would quickly come to find out, there’s much more to do here than lie on a lounge chair and work on your tan.

Le Grotte: A Thrilling Boat Tour of the Sea Caves of Gargano

by Dave on November 6, 2014

Impossible was the word that came to mind as our boat’s captain positioned us to enter our first grotto.

The dark, narrow entrance was no more than a few inches larger than our boat, with the task made all the more challenging by the undulating waters of the Adriatic beneath us.

Sval søndagstur i Umbra Forest - Gargano

by Janicke on September 11, 2014

by Cailin on November 14, 2014

Earlier this fall I was invited to visit a part of Italy that I hadn’t heard of before called Gargano. Gargano is a sub-region in the province of Foggia in the region of Puglia in Italy. Wow, that’s a mouth full. To make it easier for you Gargano is the literal spur on the boot that is Italy.

Ten Commandments of an Authentic Italian Meal

by Rick

Anybody who follows our adventures knows that we love to eat. We believe the best way to appreciate and embrace a culture is through its cuisine. I was recently hosted on a trip to Gargano, Italy by a local tourism group called Gargano OK. Gargano is the “spur of the boot” jutting out into the Adriatic Sea. It is a popular destination among Italians but it is not nearly as touristy as many of the other regions in Italy. Therein lies her charm. Less touristy equals more authenticity. It was here that I enjoyed the most authentic culinary experience of my life and surmised what I consider to be the ten commandments of an authentic Italian meal.

When All Else Fails, Mangia! Food Tips from Puglia

by Yvonne on October 11, 2014

As I stand on the balcony I furry my brow at the large and dark clouds that inch closer to our hotel at an alarming rate. Please don’t let it rain I think to myself as I close shut the doors and rest my head against the pillow. I awake in the morning to the cries of thunder and the sound of rain violently banging on the outside of my window.

Exploring the Sea Caves and Land Caves of Gargano Italy #Video

by Kate

Gargano, Italy (an area on the East Coast, at the ankle of the boot of Italy) is a land of historic and beautiful caves. They have formed both on dry land and along the shores. Over the millennia civilizations of this region have found practical uses for these caves that range from holy to commercial.

Here are a few examples that rocked my world and that are well worth a visit. The first is featured in my latest Quick Escape video and the rest are pictured below.

A Great Week in Gargano, Italy

Greetings,

I’ve just finished a great week in Gargano, Italy. The Gargano Promontory is in north-eastern Puglia in the province of Foggia which could best be described as the spur of the boot which has a rich history, delicious food and is lucky enough to be on the shores of the awe-inspiring Adriatic Sea. I didn’t know much about this region before arriving but having spent a week here, it has quickly risen to one of those destinations which has left me with a stomach full of fantastic food and a mind full of pleasant memories.
